In this Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible episode, we continue through the book of Jeremiah with chapters 18 through 25 from the King James Version.
Jeremiah is sent to the potter’s house, where he watches a vessel being shaped and reshaped in the craftsman’s hands. Through this simple image, the Lord reminds Judah that nations and people remain in His hands, and that repentance can still change the course of judgment.
But Jeremiah’s message brings increasing opposition. He is mocked, threatened, struck, and placed in the stocks, yet the word of God burns within him like a fire that cannot be contained. The prophet wrestles openly with the cost of his calling while continuing to proclaim the truth entrusted to him.
These chapters also look ahead to both judgment and hope. Jeremiah warns of Babylon’s coming domination, yet he also speaks of a righteous Branch from the house of David whose name will be called “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”
