In this Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible episode, we continue through the book of Isaiah with chapters 39 through 45 from the King James Version.
After Isaiah foretells the coming Babylonian captivity, the tone turns toward comfort, hope, and restoration. “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people,” declares the Lord. These chapters proclaim the greatness of the everlasting God, who created the heavens, calls the stars by name, strengthens the weary, and renews those who wait upon Him.
We hear the Lord’s tender assurance: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee,” and His promise to remain with His people through deep waters and consuming fire. God declares that He has redeemed them, called them by name, blotted out their transgressions, and prepared a way through the wilderness.
Isaiah also foretells the calling of Cyrus, whom God would use to accomplish His purpose and restore His people. Settle in with gentle narration, soothing music, and peaceful visuals as Isaiah chapters 39 to 45 lead us from uncertainty into comfort, renewed strength, redemption, and trust in the sovereign Lord.
